Knauf Insulation was the world’s first company to receive the coveted Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold standard.

The Gold standard certificate was awarded to Knauf Insulation’s revolutionary Glasswool products made with ECOSE® Technology, such as Earthwool® and provides a strong endorsement of the enhanced environmental performance of the ECOSE® Technology product range.

Dr Roland Augustin, Director Certification Chemical Safety at Eurofins said: “Knauf Insulation’s unfaced Glasswool with ECOSE® Technology product range has met all of the defined requirements of Eurofins’ Indoor Air Comfort Gold Standard and is therefore certified as an outstanding material according to the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Indoor Air Quality emissions regulations.”

The move towards greater energy efficiency in buildings is expected to lead to buildings that are much more air tight and which use significantly more insulation.

This in turn is leading to greater demands on products to achieve strict requirements related to indoor air quality as well as a growth in the number of mandatory and voluntary product regulations being set up. With the Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Certification programme combining the criteria of mandatory and voluntary product regulation into one trusted label, it provides manufactures and customers alike with a consolidated view of the products performance in relation to indoor air requirements.

“We are very pleased our Glasswool with ECOSE® Technology has been awarded the Eurofins’ Indoor Air Comfort Gold Standard. It is the broadest standard available and meets all existing criteria with regards to Indoor Air Quality across Europe,” said David Ducarme, Chief Operating Officer of Knauf Insulation. “This recognition by Eurofins underpins Knauf Insulation’s efforts to provide customers with innovative products, which also meet the growing market demand for more sustainable construction materials.”
