As days and nights get cooler with plummeting temperatures signalling the start of winter, people are finding unusual and inventive ways to keep warm.

From leaving the oven on and the door open to heat the house, to warming their beds with hairdryers, Australians are getting creative with the ways they're beating the cold.

New research shows nearly half of people feel colder inside than out, leaving them to tumble dry their clothes for warmth and one in ten zipping themselves into a onesies.
