The Renovate Europe Campaign - a campaign developed by EuroACE (the European Alliance of Companies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings) and supported by Knauf Insulation - continues to be a driving force for the renovation of the European building stock. The Campaign is calling on policy makers to raise the annual energy efficiency renovation rate of buildings to 3% in Europe and through this achieve an 80% reduction in the energy use across the building stock by 2050, Officially launched on 11th October at the Renovate Europe Day, the Campaign has already collaborated with the Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) to launch the first ever comprehensive 'inventory' of the EU building stock including its energy status.

Today, the Campaign continues to help turn buildings from energy wasters to climate savers with a publication in the Parliament Magazine, which informs politicians that for every euro of government money invested each year in energy efficiency of buildings five euro is generated through additional tax income and reductions in unemployment spending in the same year. The moral of the story remains the same - not only can Europe afford to renovate Europe but in fact given the huge job, climate change and competitiveness benefits, it can't afford not to.
